To become a family home in the 1980's, the shop was remodeled to its current form as a family room.  The family room retains its original rustic look but instead of tools, sofas and comfort abound.  The original red brick barn, and acres of restoring Prairie encircle the house. There are 6 beautiful and well-appointed rooms all with a bathroom and shower! ​Muscatine, Iowa is a small river town. Cliffside Resort in the Wisconsin Dells started out as a vacation home for the Tylka family. Walter and Angeline, originally from Poland, then from Chicago, had a cottage built in the style of their homeland, employing Polish craftsmen to replicate the peaked gables, scalloped edging and interior wood carvings common to the mountain cabins of their southern Poland. In 1981, the Tylkas decided to share their little slice of paradise with visitors, building a resort into the sandstone cliff adjacent to their home. Thus the Cliffside Resort opened on July 4th, 1981.  Today, the original cottage still serves as the family home! The resort is perched on a sandstone cliff that hugs the shore of the lake, and much of the activity centers around the water. Heated indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the lake await you. There’s a 60-foot waterslide at the outdoor pool and the indoor pool area includes a slide, whirlpool, and sauna. Along with the view to the lake, be sure to look up from the indoor pool to see intricate wood carvings.
