Cliffside Resort in the Wisconsin Dells started out as a vacation home for the Tylka family. Walter and Angeline, originally from Poland, then from Chicago, had a cottage built in the style of their homeland, employing Polish craftsmen to replicate the peaked gables, scalloped edging and interior wood carvings common to the mountain cabins of their southern Poland. In 1981, the Tylkas decided to share their little slice of paradise with visitors, building a resort into the sandstone cliff adjacent to their home. Thus the Cliffside Resort opened on July 4th, 1981.  Today, the original cottage still serves as the family home! Words like warm, welcoming, hard-working and meticulous show up often in guest reviews at the resort! Visitors from as close by as Chicago and as far away as Europe feel like extended family when they stay here. The main level of the family home has been converted to the office lobby which is where you’ll check in, and the lower level with large commercial-style kitchen is a popular gathering place for family reunions and groups of friends. And, yes, the Tylkas still live upstairs. The moment you pull up to Cliffside Resort you’ll know the most spectacular amenity of all is the scenic view to Lake Delton. The resort is perched on a sandstone cliff that hugs the shore of the lake, and much of the activity centers around the water. Heated indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the lake await you. There’s a 60-foot waterslide at the outdoor pool and the indoor pool area includes a slide, whirlpool, and sauna. Along with the view to the lake, be sure to look up from the indoor pool to see intricate wood carvings. We also provide lakeside picnic areas with grills and bonfire pits, perfect for favorite summertime meals, catching-up conversations and star gazing into the night. The National Churchill Museum, was originally established in 1969 as the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library in the United States and renamed by act of Congress in 2009 as "America's National Churchill Museum". The museum and historic site is the nation's leading institution dedicated to remembering and honoring the life and enduring legacy of British Statesman Winston S. Churchill. The Museum, located on the campus of Westminster College, was created after a national campaign chaired by U.S. Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Eisenhower and Truman to memorialize the speech Churchill gave at the school on March 5, 1946. The Museum includes the majestic 17th-century church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury created by British architect Sir Christopher Wren. Bombed and badly damaged in the Second World War, the building was relocated from London to Fulton, Missouri, in the 1960s to honor Churchill's speech at Westminster College. The Museum also includes the largest continuous section of the Berlin Wall in North America, which is now a sculpture by Edwina Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill.
